Borisogleb monastery

borisogleb village, Murom district, Vladimir region

Description:

The Borisogleb monastery is directly connected with Prince Gleb, who owned Moore for a long time. It was by his decree that a monastery appeared on the bank of Ushn. There is a legend that in this monastery took tonsure Evdokia, the daughter of David Georgievich, the Murom prince. All this is known from the chronicles, in which the Borisogleb monastery is often mentioned.

In 1719 the monastery burned down. In this regard, the Synod decided to unite the Borisogleb monastery together with the Blagoveshchensky, which was not far away. The parishioners were indignant about this for a long time, but it was finally decided.

In 1765, a parish from the Annunciation Monastery was opened. In one of the buildings of the building for rural children opened a parish school.

Until now, the monastery has been partially preserved. The Church of the Nativity of Christ still works. Everything else was abolished.
