ooh Lakina 1A, Murom, Vladimir region, Russia

Description:

In the city of Murom on the territory of the Transfiguration Monastery there is a chapel of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious. It was built in 2001-2002 in honor of soldiers who died in battle. St. George the Victorious has always been revered as the patron and defender of the Russian army. On the Murom land, this great martyr is revered especially.

The chapel was erected in the inner courtyard of the monastery. It is small, with one dome in the center, which crowns the cross. Entrance doors and narrow, high windows have an arched shape. The walls are snow-white and the roof is painted green. Here is kept an ancient relic containing the holy relics of the Great Martyr George. Leads to the chapel a wide path paved with tiles. Above the entrance there is an icon with the image of the Saint and a lamp burns.

Every year on May 6, a solemn liturgy dedicated to St. George the Victorious is held in the chapel.
