Holy Trinity convent
peasant Square, Murom, Vladimir Region, Russia
Description:
The Holy Trinity Women's Monastery, founded in 1643, was built on the site where in the 12th century there was a wooden church erected by the Baptist of Murom - the Holy Prince Constantine. Today this place is called the “peasant’s square”.
In 1921, the monastery was closed, and its territory was used for urban needs until the return of the monastery in 1991 to the Orthodox Church. On the territory of the monastery there are three active churches of the 17th and 18th centuries: the Triple See of Holy Trinity Cathedral, where there is a tomb with the relics of Peter and Fevronia two churches, as well as a chapel and a spring in honor of Peter and Fevronia of Murom.
Since 2002, a boarding house for underage girls has been operating on its territory, where they receive secondary education.
