In the footsteps of Seraphim of Sarov

A trip to the Holy Trinity Seraphimo-Diveevsky Monastery is one of the four parishes of the Virgin on earth and the only one in Russia.

The travel programme:

• Departure from Nizhny Novgorod to Diveevo. Throughout the journey - the guide story;
• stop in the historical center of Arzamas - an ancient Orthodox Russian city founded in the 70s of the XVI century;
• Visit the oldest monastery of the city - the Nikolaev convent and get acquainted with its three miraculous icons. In the warm season - inspection of the main cathedral of Arzamas - the Resurrection Cathedral, erected on the main square of the city in 1842 according to the project of architect Mikhail Petrovich Korinfsky, a student of Voronikhin;
• Relocation to the village (on the way). Visit to the church of the icon of the Smolensk Mother of God built in 1815, which fully preserved the authentic interiors, paintings and pre-revolutionary heating system;
• arrival in Diveevo. Walk through the monastery grounds. Visit to the church of the icon of the Kazan Mother of God built in 1779, which began the history of the Diveev monastery. Acquaintance with the Trinity Cathedral of 1875, which houses the relics of Seraphim of Sarov, a copy of the icon of the Mother of God belonging to him, his personal belongings and a lifetime portrait-icon. Visit to the house of Blessed Pasha of Sarov, who met with Nicholas II and predicted the death of Russia and the tsarist dynasty (works until 15.00). Walk the holy groove. Free time on the territory of the monastery;
• Lunch (optional)
• moving to nearby sources of the Kazan Mother of God and Saint Panteleimon. Possible swimming;
• at will, a trip to the distant source of Seraphim Sarovskiy near the village of Tsyganovka. Also, if desired, it is possible to stop on the way back to the village of Suvorovo, to the Assumption Church, where the relics of the martyrs Eudokia, Daria, Daria and Mary are located;
• Return to Nizhny Novgorod.
