Author's tour in 2 parts.
The first part is devoted to the history of the automobile plant, which opened the era of the conveyor automotive industry in Russia, built in 1932 on the Ford principle, on Ford technologies and for the licensed release of Ford cars. What were the dominant American genes of the Gorky Automobile Plant? What was the fate of the designers who cultivated them in each new model? Why is Russian Detroit the opposite? This will be discussed at the Main Passing Plant, the legendary GAZ-AA one and a half, the T-70 tank and other facilities.
The second part is about the first buildings of Sotsgorod - a city for workers, founded simultaneously with the factory. Built in the era of Stalin on American technologies and under the control of American specialists, the plant and the city under it developed according to the Russian scenario. That is why together they are called Russian Detroit.
