Annunciation Church

181500, Pskov region, Pechora, str. International, No. 5

Description:

Near the Assumption Church, near its eastern part, there is a church, which was consecrated in the name of the Annunciation of the Mother of God. On the site where previously stood a temple in the name of the Forty Martyrs of Sebaste, the Monk Cornelius built a church, then consecrated on October 15, 1541 with the blessing of the Archbishop of Pskov.

As for the architecture of the Annunciation Church, it is worth noting that it is located next to the building of the Brotherly Corps and is in contact with the Sretensky Church by the western facade. The church is a two-storey building with one head, the total composition of which is placed on a four-meter subclete. Through the side chapel is the main entrance to the main building of the church. The building is illuminated with three windows, which are located on the northern part of the facade. On the wall, located from the east, there are niches for the altar and deacon. The main volume of the church has a covering represented by a four-sided roof, and its upper four is eight-sided.

The building of the Annunciation Church is part of the wing of the Sretensky Church and is separated from its building only by facade color. The belt of the church is made of ceramic slabs, and is also decorated with glaze that has a snow-white hue. The described temple belt is an early example of Pskov architecture of the 16th century.
