Feodorovsky Monastery (Pereslavl-Zalessky)
Yaroslavl region, Russian Federation 1.3 km of Yuz
Description:
The monastery was laid in memory of the battle between the Tver and Moscow princes in the 14th century. The day of the victory of the Prince of Moscow fell on June 8. It was the day of Theodore Stratilates.
In the 16th century, by decree of Tsar Ivan the Terrible, in honor of the birth of his heir, called Theodore, it was ordered to build a church named after the Holy One. Only in 1667 the monastery ceased to be male.
In times of powerlessness during the revolution, the temple, like others, was destroyed. Within its walls there was a colony for minors, a house for the care of old people, an inn.
Since the beginning of the 20th century, the religious building again began to belong to the ROC.
Since 2003, the monastery has a beautiful custom: every Holy Easter to make the Cross procession to the Nikitsky monastery, passing through the entire village. The action each time attracts a large number of believers and pilgrims.
