Pereslavl-Zalessky, Yaroslavl region, Russian Federation 495 m Yu

Description:

Sretensky Novodevichy Monastery is a wonderful bright place, because it is located on the place of finding the icon of the Vladimir Mother of God. It was founded in the late 14th century. At first it was made of wood, and in 1740 the local merchant Ugrimov allocated money, and the temple was made stone.

Because of the reform, after 15 years, in 1764, the monastery was closed, and the churches were made parish. Such an arrangement has survived and still exists today. Many wealthy people of that time donated their money, gave the temple expensive jewelry, icons.

Now the former main temple of the Sretensky Novodevichy Monastery - Vladimir Cathedral - has the status of a Cathedral.

Address of this wonderful monastery: Pereslavl-Zalessky, St. Soviet, 12. You can get there by local bus from Pereslavl-Zalessky bus station, or by personal transport, moving along the Moscow highway.
