About the company:
The Perm Academic Theatre was founded in 1927 and was originally called Theatre of Working Youth. The first performance, which was presented to the public, was “Battleship Potemkin”. In the 30s, the actors toured the Urals a lot, as well as the cities of Siberia and the Far East. In the difficult times of the war and the difficult post-war years, the theater continued its activities, performances continued to be staged here, and actors sought self-improvement.
The activity of the Perm Theatre has been marked by various awards more than once - already by its first anniversary the troupe received many congratulations, including telegrams from V.E. Meyerhold and K.S. Stanislavsky. And in 1977, the theater staff was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.
In 1981, the theater received a new building located on the city esplanade. It was built according to the project of architects V.P. Davydenko and V.I. Lutikov. In 2007, Perm Academic Drama Theatre changed its name to Perm Academic Theatre-Theatre. In the following years, there are important changes in the life of the theater - the repertoire is updated. Nowadays, Perm Academic Theatre-Theatre is an active participant in the cultural life of the Perm Territory, implementing many original creative projects.
