Legends of the Ural Mountains: Usvin Pillars and the Stone City
Description:
The Ural mountains are shrouded in numerous legends: legends about heroes, about a blind princess, about mutual, forbidden and unrequited love, about evil spirits. And this is not surprising, since the age of the mountains is more than 200 million years, when in the district for hundreds of kilometers rolled on each other sea waves. And today on the rocks and at the foot of the mountains along the Usva River you can find traces of the ancient sea in the form of prints and fossilized remains of reticulated mshankas, single or group corals, brachiopods, crinoids. Legends about the origin of rock massifs and myths did not bypass the Stone City and the Usvin pillars. The rocks are attracted by the Ural nature: pine trees and fir trees, alpine asters, tall ferns, crimson will of paths, in the summer juicy blueberries on the tops of the Usvin pillars and the Stone City and no less fascinating views in winter.
You can get to the Usvinsky pillars both on foot, overcoming a 5 km long path along the forest path along the Usva River from the parking lot of the car, and by boat (15 minutes), enjoying and admiring the beauty of the Ural Mountains from the water.
Usvinsky Pillars and Stone City are a popular place among tourists and filmmakers. In the locations of these two natural monuments, which belong to the Permsky Nature Park, the films “Time of the First”, “Heart of Parma”, “The Last Bogatyr: the Root of Evil”, “Axe”, the series “Territory”, “Ivan Semenov: the Great Campaign” were filmed.
