Bear monument

ooh Lenina, 58, Perm, Russia

Description:

The bear monument, opened in 2009 in honor of the City Day, is one of the most interesting Perm monuments, which is associated with an interesting legend "about the wandering bear". It is located in front of the hotel "Ural" on the main street of the city.

The bear is a symbol of the city and is depicted on the coat of arms of Perm. Initially, the sculpture was made of stone and installed in front of the Concert Hall of the Philharmonic in 2006, but in 2007 it was removed due to repairs to the TSUM building. Then the sculpture was put in its original place, and a year later it disappeared again and appeared in bronze form and elsewhere. So the idea of foreigners wandering the streets of the Ural cities bears became a reality.

The sculpture was created by a group of artists and cast in bronze thanks to the fund of sculptors of Russia. Its weight is 1 ton, and its height is 1.5 meters. Local residents and guests of Perm have a belief that if you make a wish and rub the bear's nose - it will come true.
