Description:

The monument to A.S. Pushkin was erected in the square adjacent to the building of the Noble Assembly, June 6, 1993, on the birthday of the great Russian poet. The authors of the monument were the famous Russian sculptor V.M. Klykov and architect M.I. Futlik. However, the history of the monument, which preceded its installation, turned out to be quite complex, almost detective.

Back in the early 1980s, an initiative to create a monument to Pushkin came from the city administration. The project began to be implemented and in 1983 the sculpture of the poet was ready, as well as openwork bronze grilles - a single composition. The sculptural ensemble arrived in Perm, but was never installed. The reason was banal - in the budget there were no funds for the installation, and the sculpture of the luminary of Russian literature was abandoned on the outskirts of the plant "Motorostroitel", littered with garbage. It was here that she was found on the eve of the 185th anniversary of the birth of Pushkin. But the monument could not be installed again.

In November 1990, fans of Pushkin’s work together with members of the literary club appealed to the city authorities with a request to install a monument in Perm. Their request was heard and after another two years, work began on the construction of the foundation and pedestal. There was also a decorative wall with relief images based on Pushkin’s fairy tales. The opening ceremony of the monument finally took place in 1993, and since then, annually, on the birthday of the great poet, fans of Pushkin’s outstanding talent gather here.
