Onega Embankment

One of the most beautiful and magical places in the Karelian city of Petrozavodsk is the embankment on the shore of Lake Onega. Built relatively recently, in 1944, the embankment has gained great popularity, as a great place for rest and walks, with citizens and guests of the city.

Neat pavement slabs, beautiful green lawns, silvery surface of the lake, what else can be more beautiful for a pleasant pastime in the summer? In winter, they come here to admire the ice and snow figures of Hyperborea. The embankment has become a place of folk festivals, a place for competitions and festivals. Along the embankment, along its entire length, there are monuments accepted by Petrozavodsk as a gift from other cities.

The steel sculpture "Fishermen" - the first monument that opened the "sculptural gallery" of Petrozavodsk, was donated by the city of Dulut from America. Next were the Tübingen panel, the Tree of Desire, the Wave of Friendship, the Starry Sky, the Mermaid, the Woman.

From 2002 to 2003, another embankment was built in Petrozavodsk, made in the style of the XIX century, since the main part of it ran through the district with historical buildings.
