About the company:
The Landscape Museum was opened on November 14, 1997. The opening of the museum became a real event of modern art life not only for the central region, but also for the whole of Russia. The idea of creating a landscape museum has long been hatched by the staff of the Plessky Historical, Architectural and Art Museum-Reserve.
At some point, it received full support from the Committee on Culture and Art of the Administration of the Ivanovo region. Under the museum was transferred and restored one of the best mansions of the city, which on two floors in magnificent suites of rooms housed the exposition.
The basis of the collection of the museum-reserve was the unique works of the late XIX - early XX century. from the funds of the Plessky Museum. The collection of the museum provided for the creation of a large section of modern art. This task was solved by transferring a large number of works of landscape painting by artists of the 50-80s to the museum by the Ministry of Culture. This action restored the chronology of the exhibition, combined the works of the XIX and XX centuries into a single series.
The main task of the permanent exhibition of the museum is to demonstrate various directions of historical and modern art, on the example of famous masters of painting (R.G. Sudkovsky, I.I. Shishkin, A.K. Savrasov, V.D. Polenov, I.I. Levitan, N.A. Yaroshenko, K.S. Petrov-Vodkin and many others). In the Landscape Museum you can get acquainted with the activities of the Association of Traveling Art Exhibitions, the Union of Russian Artists of 1903, "Russian Impressionists", artists - friends of I. Levitan.
The museum regularly hosts exhibitions of contemporary landscape painting from various regions of Russia. In addition, the Landscape Museum annually hosts the festival "Green noise", "Plessky plein air" and children's plein air "Volga artist". The works created by modern artists adequately replenish the collection of the Museum of Landscape.
