Climb to Bald Grandfather (1120m)

The easternmost millenary of Primorye is Mount Bald Grandfather. The mountain is less visited than Pidan, Phalaza, Sparrow, but no less interesting. From the top there is a magnificent view of the southern coast of Primorye. From the top of Mount Pidan, it is Bald Grandfather who prevents you from seeing most of this coast.

The mountain is also known as the “Airplane Killer”.

In 1954, on the slopes of the mountain, the Pacific Fleet Air Force plane - the Tu-14T torpedo bomber, shot down by mistake by its own fighters, who confused it with an American intelligence officer, died.

In February 1955, the Il-28T torpedo bomber with its entire crew crashed here. The plane went missing, and only after many years, managed to find its wreckage and the remains of the crew.

And in 1957, a MiG-17F jet fighter fell on the northern slope of the mountain, the pilot ejected and survived. And this is only part of the aviation equipment, which now rests on the Livadia ridge.

Past one of these aircraft, which is located 100 meters below the summit and will pass our route.

6.00 – departure from Vladivostok square Lugova.

9.00 – arrival at the forest glade for the village of Prayer Cape.

9.00 – 10.30 – the transition to the foot of the mountain.

10.30-14.00 - ascent.

14.00-14.30 - rest at the top

14.30 – 18.30 – return to transport.

18.30-21.00 – Return to Vladivostok Lugovaya Square
