House of experts
Description:
Every Pskovic has been to this house at least once. Maybe when you were a kid after school, you ran over here for the best pizza in the world? Maybe I went here with my mother, take shoes to the MOTO for repairs? Or have you ever been to a video store? Maybe you went to see your friends. All this is about the house of specialists, which stands opposite the Pushkin Theater, at the address: Lenin Street 11/4.
The House of Specialists is a pre-war building. In the 1930s, the construction of houses with high-comfort apartments for engineering workers of the highest category began in the USSR. And in Pskov, which became the center of the border district, the question arises about the placement of not only engineering personnel, but also the newly arrived party and military workers.
And then, for 1 year (from 1934 to 1935) at the crossroads of Lenin and Pushkin streets, on the site of dilapidated wooden buildings, a four-storey house was erected (such a high altitude was a rarity for pre-war Pskov), which will be called the House of Specialists. By the way, according to legend, as a building material in the construction of the house used brick from undermined in the Kremlin in 1930 Annunciation Cathedral.
On November 20, 1935, the house was commissioned. The first floor of the building was intended for commercial premises, and the three upper floors are reserved for apartments. One of the first residents of the House of Specialists were: head of the district department of public education, head of the Pskov border detachment, deputy. Head of the district police department, editor of the newspaper Pskov kolkhoznik, director of the local history museum. And in early 1936, the apartment in this house was received by the commander of the 5th Cavalry Corps Konstantin Rokossovsky, who came to Pskov.
The building suffered during the Second World War, in 1957-59 it was restored and turned into an ordinary residential building with an unusual history.
