Lake Nero
Description:
Lake Nero is located in the Yaroslavl region and is a natural monument. On the west bank is one of the oldest cities in Russia - Rostov. The lake is freshwater, has a shallow depth (about 1 meter) and significant accumulations of silt at the bottom. It is because of them that the lake got its name, which from the Ugro-Finnish group of languages means “silty”. Nero decorates a number of small islands.
The lake has fish, which attracts many fishermen. Unfortunately, in winter, Nero freezes completely due to the shallow depth, and all the fish die. From the shores of the lake there are beautiful landscapes of the water surface, the surrounding nature and the churches of Rostov. In the summer, you can ride along Nero on a pleasure boat.
You can get to the lake by train or car by Northern Railway or M8, respectively. Fans of air travel will have to make a transfer at the nearest airport, which is located in Yaroslavl.
