Monument to S. Yesenin on the embankment

390000, Russia, Ryazan region, Ryazan, Kremlin Square

Description:

The monument to the famous poet of our country Sergey Alexandrovich Yesenin was solemnly opened on October 2, 1975, on the 80th anniversary of the poet’s birth. The monument is installed next to the Church of the Savior-on-Yar on the embankment of Trubezh opposite the Ryazyansk Kremlin.

The poet is waist-deep. It seems that he reads something out loud and gestures with his hands. The gaze of Sergei Yesenin is aimed somewhere in the distance, but at the same time it seems that the poet is immersed deep in himself.

The sculptor of the monument is Alexander Kibalnikov. For this work, A.P. Kibalnikov received the I.E. Repin State Prize of the RSFSR in 1976. The author well emphasized the connection of the poet with his homeland. According to the sculptor, the figure of Sergei Yesenin seems to grow out of the earth and rushes to his native expanses.
