9th January Park
pr. Stracek, 20, St. Petersburg, Russia
Description:
The park, located in one of the so-called "industrial" areas of the city, was the first city park to be built after the 1917 revolution. They decided to arrange it just at the place where the workers of the Narva outpost set off on January 9, 1905. As we know from history, the peace procession was shot. In memory of this event, the park was given a name. Originally called the Garden in Memory of the Victims of the Shooting of January 9, 1905, the modern name has been shortened to "January 9 Park".
Nowadays, this park is one of the city gardens in which citizens rest. He is not very remarkable, except for his wonderful grille. Forged modern lattice (project of R. Meltzer) in the form of curly flowers, embracing double-headed eagles and imperial crowns, installed in 1924. She is truly pleasing to the eye and even won two gold medals at the Paris exhibition.
The park suffered greatly during the Great Patriotic War, but by now, after several reconstructions, it is again a pleasant place to relax, a green outlet for a large metropolis.
