The Spit of Vasilievsky Island

Vasilievsky Island, Exchange Square, 4, St. Petersburg

Description:

The arrow of Vasilievsky Island is perhaps the most beautiful ensemble of St. Petersburg. It is here that two embankments diverge – University and Makarov. For St. Petersburgers, this is a favorite holiday destination, and for guests of the northern capital - the main attraction.

If you plunge a little into the history of the city, the idea of Peter the Great was that St. Petersburg became the largest shopping center and seaport, because the Peter and Paul Fortress was built on the Hare Island. Due to an engineering error, the Petrograd side was frozen, so it was decided to move the fortress to Vasilievsky Island. Since then, the eastern cape of the island has been called Arrows of Vasilievsky Island.

Getting from the center to the Spit of Vasilievsky Island is simple. You need to get to the Palace Bridge. Then turn to the right, and then go to Gorokhovaya. If you move straight along the Nevsky, you will find yourself between two red towers. This will be the Spit of Vasilievsky Island.
