Sightseeing tour of the city with a visit to the skits

In pre-revolutionary Russia, a visit to Sergiev Posad was one of the most important events in human life. We prepared for it with great care.
In this tour we will get acquainted with the main sights of Sergiev Posad and learn what role the city played in the spiritual and historical formation of Russia. Find out what attracts the Lavra many pilgrims from all over Russia for more than 600 years. We will learn the reasons for the emergence of the city, as it was at the end of the XIX century and what awaits Sergiev Posad in the future.
The first part of the tour involves walking around the city center and visiting the main attractions: the observation deck that is on Pannaya Mountain, Kelarsky Pond, Ilyinsky temple, eternal flame. We will learn the history of Pafnutiev Garden, the first museum of the history of toys and talk about the symbol of Russia - nesting doll.
Then we move to the outskirts of the city and visit the Gethsemane Chernigov skete, founded in the middle of the XIX century by monks of the Lavra. A little later, there are caves and a cave temple, which we will definitely visit.
We will complete our acquaintance with Sergiev Posad in the Vithansky hermitage. It is erected on the orders of Metropolitan Plato (Levshin). The monastery is unique in that in one of the temples there is an altar made in the form of Mount Tabor, where, according to the Gospel text, Christ was transformed.
