Sub-monastery

The tour introduces the monasteries attributed to the Trinity-Sergius Lavra:

Gethsemane-Chernihiv Skete, one of the most beautiful Lavra subordinate monasteries, its rare feature is the “cave” underground department; here visitors will be able to venerate the tomb of Prp. Barnavas in Chernihiv Cathedral and the graves of famous Russian religious philosophers K.N. Leontiev and V.V. Rozanov.

- The Savior-Bifana Monastery, like the Sergius Lavra, began as a modest desert, the founder of which in 1783 - 1787 was the Metropolitan of Moscow and the Holy Archimandrite of the Lavra Platon (Levshin). At the beginning of the 20th century, the monastery suffered the fate of most existing monasteries - in 1925, the monastery was closed, and only in 1998, part of the preserved buildings of the monastery was returned to the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. Only in 2002, Bethany became a Lavra farmstead, and in September 2009, with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, the Vithana courtyard was again, as in May 1797, awarded the status of a male public monastery. The central place on the monastery territory is occupied by the newly built Savior-Transfiguration Cathedral.
