Friday Well Chapel
red Army, Sergiev Posad, Moscow region, Russia
Description:
The chapel of the Friday well is built over the spring. Once it was part of a single ensemble of the Trinity Monastery (although it was located outside its walls). Nowadays, the building was torn from the ancient walls of the monastery by a road.
This chapel is always perceived as a mysterious and shrouded in secrets structure. There is no exact information when it was built (presumably at the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries), there is no record of what happened to the building over time, there is no clarity where and why its rich decoration disappeared. The lack of answers to these questions does not deprive the chapel of charm. This small building has a clear and clear silhouette with a fairly detailed study of the details of the external decor. The discreet, but very solid chapel fits very well into the surrounding space, complementing the monastery buildings located at a distance.
Inside is an open circular well. The interior spaces are decorated with craft glue painting of the late 19th - early 20th century.
