Friday Church
Description:
Friday Church is located in the city of Sergeev-Posad, Russia. It was built in 1547, by order of the Trinity Monastery. This is a columnless, one-apse temple, which is an absolute representative of the architecture of the XVI century. The walls of its four are completed with a tier of kokoshniks, and ribbons of rod and pointed arches adorn the facades.
Large windows of the church are framed by unique casings with figurely ears. It is adjacent to a tent bell tower and a refectory chamber. This type of temple was widespread in Russia. The only entrance leading to the church was located in the western wall of the refectory and was decorated with a promising portal crowned with fine geometric carvings. An elegant "bell tower" rises directly above the entrance to the temple.
In the second half of the XVI century, the Pyatnitsky and Vvedensky churches were introduced into the women's Podolny Pyatnitsky monastery. It is currently functioning.
