Refectory Church
prosp. Red Army, 127A, Sergiev Posad, Moscow region, 141309
Description:
The refectory church is located in the place where the Tsaritsyns were previously located. The church building was built in 1686. It consists of brick and white stone. The structure of the Refectory Church has an original roof, which is reliably supported by metal tractions. It is amazing with its decorative decoration.
On the perimeter of the facade of the Refectory Church there are semi-columns with “curly” capitals. Above them is a multidisciplinary cornice. The windows frame twisted white-stone columns. On the walls are huge sculptural shells. There are two wide stairs in the building. On the east side, the building of the Refectory is adjacent to the Sergiev Church.
The hall of the Refectory Church, which is 70 meters long and fifteen meters wide, was intended for solemn receptions. It is decorated with stucco and painting, made by masters of the eighteenth century. The monks dined in another hall – a small refectory. By the way, the building was restored in the 1940s.
