Dulbert Palace tour

Description:

In numerous old and modern photos, the Dulbert Palace in Crimea seems unchanged. Over the past century, only the vegetation surrounding it has changed. It is a real architectural treasure of the Crimean peninsula, there is nothing that could compare with it, except perhaps only the dacha of Stamboli in Feodosia, which also absorbed pronounced Moorish motifs.

The ensemble seems to be a magical oriental palace from the tales “One Thousand and One Nights”, ancient and shrouded in legends. These sensations, inspired by a rather unusual and beautiful architecture, are transferred from the coast of the Crimean to the shores of the distant Maghreb. Ironically, for the man who directly influenced its construction in such an unusual style and in fact designed the complex, it soon became his place of detention, and could well become a tomb.

The idea of its foundation of this landmark of Koreiz came to Grand Duke P.M. Romanov after numerous trips to the countries of the Middle East and North Africa. He was fond of Muslim architecture, especially the architecture of the Old City in Cairo.

In his travels he made many sketches of Egyptian buildings he liked.

The largest attractions, except for the palace itself, are located in the depths of the park that surrounds it. They have both vegetative and architectural character. Among them is a small botanical garden, occupying an area of 6 hectares, where various exotic plants are collected. Many sculptures and sculptural compositions dating back to the beginning of the last century, no less decorate the beautiful, shady square, as well as other buildings - beautiful fountains, intricate arbors and paved artificial ponds with flowering lilies. At the beginning of the new millennium in the Crimea, Dulbert Palace received the most flattering reviews, as well as the honorary title - "The Best Sanatorium".
