Excursion "Crimean Nature Reserve"

Description:

Mount Roman-Kosh is one of the most beautiful places of the Crimean Peninsula, attracting a considerable number of tourists. To get to the top of the mountain, from where truly fascinating views open, you can take several routes.

This is the highest point of the Crimea, which surrounds the highest yayla of the Babugan-Yayly peninsula. Sources indicate a height of 1545 m, but many practitioners reasonably claim that the actual height is 1547 m.

This mountain is located near the village of Gurzuf on the lands of the Crimean Nature Reserve.
Close to it adjoins a small, but popular among vacationers village Partenit.

The importance of Roman Kosh for both tourists and locals cannot be overestimated. It’s not about the height of the mountain. It is from here that a unique view of Chufut-Kala, Kyz-Kermen, places where unique cave cities were located in ancient times, opens. From the top you can always see the Partisan Reservoir, the Observatory, and, of course, the sea.

Excursion by minibus on the Romanov highway with disembarkation in seven pre-arranged places (Uch-kosh Gorge, Red Stone Cordon, Windshop, source of the Kachi River, Chuchelsky Pass, Kozmo-Damianovo Monastery, trout farm) accompanied by a guide - an employee of the reserve was called "According to the places of the royal hunts".

If the place of the first stop is located at an altitude of about 700 meters, the cordon "Red Stone" along with the observation deck overlooking Yalta and the Museum of Partisan Glory, urgently open for the 70th anniversary of the Victory just two months before the tour, is already at an altitude of 1360 meters. Here, the serpentine is replaced by a relatively gentle and not so winding road. This cordon should not be confused with the rock Red Stone in the village of Krasnokamenka near Gurzuf, near which the Artek trail begins. The height of the cliff is about 800 meters less, and it is located about 6 kilometers to the east and quite a bit to the north, there I have never been, but I really hope to visit the surroundings of the cliff as well. The guide will conduct a sightseeing tour of the new museum, tell a brief history of the partisan movement in the Crimea during the Second World War, and the group will get to the natural observation deck, which overlooks the entire Yalta amphitheater, closed from the west by Mount Mogabi and the most beautiful peak of the Crimea - Ai-Petri.

The most high-altitude stop on the tour route was at the Windshop at an altitude of 1426 meters above sea level. To the gazebo from the Romanov highway leads a short asphalted branch. The gazebo in clear weather is also visible from the Alushta-Yalta highway.

Also from the rock Shagan-kaya open stunning views back, deep into the Crimean mountains. One of the peaks visible to the gazebo is Kemal, the fifth highest peak of Crimea (however, the height of all six highest Crimean peaks - Roman Kosha, Demir Capu, Valentina, Zeytin Kosha, Kemal and Eclysi Buruna, can be said to be approximately the same - the difference between the first of them, Roman Kosh, and the sixth, Eclysi Burun, is only 18 meters, which is just over one percent of their absolute height). However, knowledgeable people who have been to these places, specify that Kemal is not visible from the gazebo, so it is some other peak.
