The name Megan has a Greek etymology. It is formed from two words: 1. Mega (μεγα). Interpretation: "big, spacious, important, significant." Nomas (νομη, νομος (νομ|ος) or derived words - νομας, νομα|ς). Interpretation: “driving, pasture, housing”; “pasture, expelling, possession, nomadic tribes, nomadic wandering.” In the Slavic interpretation, the word “Meganom” was interpreted in such variants: “Big settlement”, “Big housing”, “Big pasture” and, as an exception, “Big shoulder”. The name also applies to the complex nature monument “Meganom Peninsula”.

The Megan peninsula lies between Mount Alchak in the west to the mouth of the Koz River in the east, including the Kapsel and Koz valleys. From the north, these lands are limited to the Tokluk-Syrt ridge. Administratively, it is part of the Sudak region of Crimea. Meganom is characterized by a desert landscape.

The ancient Greeks believed that Meganome was the entrance to the kingdom of the dead Hades, where Charon transported the souls of the dead along the Styx River. And there is an assumption that Odysseus met with a one-eyed cyclops on Meganom and descended into the kingdom of Hades through the underground caves of Kara-Dag, during low tide they are perfectly visible in the east. A large number of Crimean legends and legends are associated with Kara-Dag and Cape Megan.

Fans of adventure and all sorts of mysteries will find a lot of interesting things on Meganom. Periodically, the rings dim and then everyone in this zone - both in humans and animals - has a sharp deterioration in health. Conversely, when the rings start to glow again, the territory becomes accessible again.

Ufologists studied this mystery and came to the conclusion that there is a magnetic anomaly on Meganom, which is a sign of the impact on the ground of cold plasma, which indicates a visit to these places UFOs, which use crystals of volcanic rock to generate energy of the same cold plasma to use it in the engines of their ships. And, by the way, there is an ancient volcano Kara-Dag...
