Excursion-Trip "Valley of Demergi"

Description:

Walking route up to 15 km. The complexity of the route is average. Those who do not want to climb can stay at the foot of the mountain.

During this route you will follow along the entire southern coast of Crimea to Alushta. Your way runs along a very picturesque Yalta road: on the right - poetic seascapes, on the left - bizarre mountains and rocks in the frame of the forest. From the windows of the bus you will see an endless series of beautiful landscapes, amazing ancient parks, majestic palaces, as well as buildings of supermodern health resorts and villas. On the way - two stops - on Laspin Pass and on the observation deck of Mount Cat.

After an hour and a half, rounding Alushta on the north side, the bus will drop the group at the foot of Mount Demerdzhi. This is an unusually beautiful, like a huge impregnable fortress mountain. It consists of two divided saddle parts - North and South Demerdzhi. From the foot of the South Mountain you will go on a walking climb to the Valley of Ghosts - one of the most mysterious places in the Crimea. The hike is accessible, the trail is quite clear. And a prerequisite for lifting is the presence of sports shoes.

Demerji is a unique mountain. It consists of the oldest breeds, found only here and nowhere else. These rocks are a mystery to geological history! At the very beginning of the journey you will see massive piles of huge boulder stones. These are the results of powerful collapses. Before you will appear a giant stone chaos from the wreckage of rocks and huge rocks. Some of the rocks here are the size of a three-story house!!!

On the southern slopes of Demerdzhi in the legendary Valley of Ghosts, nature for millions of years sculpted a forest of stone sculptures, where you can see the outlines of various animals, fairy-tale characters, fantastic towers and columns. Turn on your imagination and you: here in front of you is a warrior-ninja, here is an astronaut, and then clearly looms the tail of a huge fish. Especially you will be amazed by the huge vertical rock pillar located in the Valley - the famous Giant. For many, at the sight of this stone creation, the spirit simply intercepts!! Everyone has their own associative series, and therefore it is so interesting later, having settled on the nearest meadow for rest, to share impressions from what they saw. All these bizarre rocks are figures of weathering fragile conglomerates – pebbles, sand and clay, which began to appear three million years ago. You can walk along the paths of Ghost Valley for hours, but your time in such an amazing place, unfortunately, is limited - you need to climb further.

Along the way, you will overcome several natural observation platforms, from where the amazing beauty of the surrounding neighborhood will open before the group - stretching along the Alushta Sea, the surrounding grape valleys, the mighty Chatyr-Dag. The panorama is so grandiose and exciting that it is difficult to convey in words those feelings that will surely embrace you in these moments! In addition, the mountain during daylight several times changes colors and shades, and your photos with Demerdzhi in this regard will be strikingly different from each other. Magic of the magical Crimean nature!!
The final point of the ascent is the 20-meter rock crowning the top of South Demerdzhi, which is called the Bust of Catherine. Make sure for yourself – the rock really looks like the great Russian Empress. However, not all members of the group will dare to reach this amazing rock.

It is noteworthy that on Mount Demerdzhi episodes of one of the most popular comedies of the last century - "Caucasian Prisoner" were filmed. You will have the opportunity to take pictures near the “Nikulin nut”, from where Balbes threw nuts, and walk the paths along which everyone’s favorite Nina, Shurik and donkey walked.

Demerdzhi-Yayla is a mountain range (Yayla) in the Alushta region of Crimea. The name "Demirji" (Crimean-Tat. demirci) in translation from the Crimean Tatar means "smith". In the Middle Ages, the Greeks called Mount Funa “smoking.” This name remains behind the fortress at the foot of the mountain.

Tops: North Demerdzhi (1356 m) and South Demerdzhi (1239 m). On the slopes of southern Demerdzhi are bizarre heaps of stones - the Valley of Ghosts. Also here is the rock of Catherine’s Head, clearly distinguishable from the Simferopol-Yalta highway.

The name of the mountain in Russian was historically written Demirdzhi (from the Crimean. demirci - blacksmith), but in the second half of the XX century, a distorted version of Demerdzhi spread widely. In recent years, in guidebooks and cartographic publications there is a tendency to return to the correct spelling of the name.
