Excursion-Trip "Suatkan Falls"
Description:
suatcan
This is one of the most beautiful waterfalls of the Crimea, but at the same time, little visited. It was lost near the source of the mountain river of the same name in a rock fault to the south-west of the village Rich Gorge of Bakhchisarai district, located in the foothills of the western part of the Belbek valley.
A river, or rather a stream, the Suatkan is the left tributary of the Belbek River. The source of Suatkana begins on the southern slope of the mountain Kaya Bash or Two Tatarina, and the mouth - 4 kilometers near the village of Golubinka.
The name of the waterfall translated from the Crimean Tatar language means “throwing water”. There are other interpretations of this name: Suat Khan (translated - "water", "head", "lord", i.e. "top water of the lord" or "the origins of the lord").
Suatkan falls refers to ephemeral (from the Greek one-day) waterfalls and you can see it in all its glory only in early spring, when forest streams and rivers are filled with melt waters and rush into the valleys with cheerful noise through the forests awakening from winter hibernation.
Su-Ahande is another Crimean ephemeral. It appears in all its full-water glory when a lot of water flows from the mountains. There is a waterfall in the upper reaches of the ravine of the same name near the village of Polyana, in the Baidar valley.
The Tatar toponym “Su-Akhande” was interpreted in one linguistic forum as “water flowed, flows and will flow.”
From the waterfall, bypassing the cliff, we go upstairs. Here the stream of Su-Ahande forms a small, but very picturesque canyon with all the features befitting the canyon: cascades, baths and a beautiful waterfall in the upper reaches.
