The courthouse tour. The New World

Description:

The route runs first along the Sevastopol-Simferopol highway, then, after a small household stop in Simferopol (approximately 15 minutes), the bus leaves for the Simferopol-Feodosia highway. On the way to the bus windows you will see many wonderful Crimean landscapes, and from the accompanying story of the guide you will learn a lot of interesting things about the magnificent nature of the Crimean Peninsula, as well as its amazing rich history.

In Sudak you can admire a beautiful landscape monument – Cape Megan.

Then you will meet with the main city landmark - Sudak Genoese fortress. Towering above the bay and the city, the medieval fortress is a stunning impregnable fortification: the highest fortress walls, a gloomy castle, numerous towers. In this unique and impressive historical and archaeological monument of world significance, everything is preserved in the form that the fortress was in the days of the medieval knights. It was built in several stages, over the centuries under the control and order of the Italians, so in its appearance are firmly present Western European fortifications. Moving along the paths along the massive fortress walls, climbing to the top of the Consular Castle, standing at the foot of the Maiden Tower rushing upwards, you will everywhere feel the spirit of antiquity firmly hovering here.

In recent years, in the summer, the medieval history of the legendary fortress comes to life – the Knights’ Helmet tournament is held here. Members of historical clubs – lovers of the Middle Ages from different countries – Russia, Ukraine and Belarus – come to Sudak and begin to recreate the life of centuries gone by in the fortress. Grandiose knightly tournaments are held - horsemen's competitions, sword battles, fist fights. In addition to the daily spectacular knightly competitions and the mass storming of the fortress, the program of the event includes a fair of folk crafts, competitions of blacksmiths, shooting from crossbows, cannons, kulevrins and trebuchets, performances of troubadours. This is an unusually spectacular and exciting performance! You can also see the buhurt with your own eyes – knightly competitions – as well as buy wonderful crafts of artisans as souvenirs if you buy tickets for an excursion to Sudak from mid-July to the end of August.

However, the Genoese fortress was chosen not only by archaeologists and fans of history, but also by filmmakers. More than forty popular and favorite films are shot here - Hamlet, Marco Polo, Socrates, The Master and Margarita, and many others.

From Sudak you will go to one of the most romantic and picturesque places of the Crimea - the village of New World. They call him Paradise. It is a botanical, archaeological and historical reserve. Open to the Black Sea, the Novosvetovsky amphitheater of mountain slopes forms a kind of arc, along the edges of which the majestic Sokol Mountain and the rounded domed Cave Rock (Koba-Kaya) rise. These rocky cliffs are fossilized limestone reefs.

And what an indelible impression you will make like the head of a giant lizard Cape Kapchik creeping into the sea and striking with its fantastic rock walls, bizarre ridges, mysterious clefts Mount Karaul-Oba! Mysterious wild beauty! The coast of the reserve is decorated with truly beautiful bays, the water in which has a color strictly according to their names - Blue, Green and Blue. During a walk along the bays along the Golitsin trail, you will also see the grand Chaliapin Grotto, or Golitsyn Grotto, a cave about 20 m long and up to 8 m high. The grotto was equipped under a unique winery by the famous winemaker L. Golitsyn, who chose the lands of the New World for growing grapes and subsequent production of champagne wines from it. There were 3,200 bottles of wine from all over Europe, starting with those produced during the French Revolution. The grotto has an extraordinary beautiful acoustics. That is why, according to legend, the legendary singer F. Chaliapin, who visited the winemaker, agreed to give a concert here.

The New World struck with its beauty many famous people, among them – the last Russian Emperor Nicholas II. Having taken a great journey from Sevastopol under the protection of the Black Sea Fleet warships along the Crimean peninsula on the sailing yacht “Standart”, the emperor, along with his family, visited the shores of the beautiful village and was so fascinated by these places that he called them “Paradiz”. The royal family even rested on a quiet cozy beach located in the Blue Bay. Since then, the beach of the Blue Bay is called – Tsarsky.

At the end of the walk along the bays, you can walk along the relic juniper grove famous for its amazing healing effect to the very edge of Cape Kapchik and from there admire the stunning panorama of the coast of Sudak and the New World opening before you. By the way, a half-hour stay among the thickets of healing Novosvetovsky juniper replaces a week of treatment in a pulmonary sanatorium!!!
The New World is also adored by filmmakers: a huge number of popular and favorite films were shot here - "Three plus two", "Pirates of the twentieth century", "Anna Karenina" and many others.

After getting acquainted with the reserve, you can relax on the embankment of the New World.

Well, at the end of the tour, a visit to the company store of Novosvetov Champagne Factory is planned.
