Excursion "Waterfalls of Crimea"
Description:
A huge amount of water flows from the mountains, forming lakes and waterfalls.
The stream flows along the Kobalar Dere beam and flows into the Baydar valley. Water from a height of about 14 meters falls into a small clean lake, creating a water veil under the rock.
First we will visit the Kabalar Falls, then we will continue our way through the beautiful valley.
Everyone knows that we have many waterfalls in Crimea, but, unfortunately, not many people have time to visit such places. And for nothing!
There is a small village in the Baidar Valley. In ancient times there was a small settlement, and during the Crimean war in these parts stood French troops. And there is in this small village a completely small river, which is more like a stream - Baga. In summer, the river dries up, so you need to go for beauty in the spring. In spring, the river cheerfully runs from stone to stone, filling small lakes and pouring cascades out of them. With each meter, the riverbed narrows and in some place the stone bed turns into a small gorge, at the bottom of which a small lake from which you can see as if the entrance to the cave. According to legend, this is the entrance to the gatekeepers. And next to the lake there are many more grottoes and small caves. In which, according to the same legends, dragons live, guarding the peace of the princess Baga. Princess Baga lives in these places only in spring, in summer her residence is transferred to the ocean.
Wuchang-Su Falls is located on the river of the same name, the highest waterfall.
The name of the waterfall means “flying water” in translation from the south-bank dialect of the Crimean Tatar language (“uçan” – flying, “suv” – water). Other names of the waterfall are also known: Kremasto Nero (ancient Greek Κρεμαστόν νερόν - "hanging water") and Akar-Su (Crimean Tatar Aqar Suv - "flowing water").
We'll be watching this beauty. The waterfall is formed by the Wuchang-Su River, which originates under the edge of the Ai-Petrinskaya yayla at an altitude of 1233 m above sea level and flows down with a very large slope.
