Romantics of the Crimean estates: Utes, Karasan and panoramas of Bolgatura

Main points of the route

1. Baidar Gate and Foros Church

• The ancient pass (built in 1848), which serves as a symbolic “gateway” to the southern coast of Crimea. From here there is a stunning panoramic view of the Foros church, hovering on a rock, and the endless Black Sea.

• Visit to the Foros temple.(20 min.)

2. A landslide.

Here you can make a stop to admire the harsh rock cliffs of the Main Range of the Crimean Mountains, hanging over the South Bank highway running below.

3. Mount Bolgatura (Gurzuf)

• The highest point of Gurzuf (more than 150 meters above sea level). There is an excellent observation deck at the top.

• From Bolgatur there is a 360-degree view of the Bear Mountain (Ayu-Dag), the twin rocks of Adalara, Gurzuf Bay and the picturesque old streets of the village itself.

4. Estate "The Cliff" (Palace of Princess Gagarina)

• A real castle in the Romanesque style with Gothic elements (sharp turrets, spires, ivy-enclosed walls). Built in the early XX century by Italian masters for Princess Anastasia Gagarina.

• Park: The palace is surrounded by an ancient landscape park, where exotic plants and centuries-old cypresses harmoniously combine.

5. Cape Plaka

• A unique geological formation is lacolite (failed volcano). The shape of the cape resembles the back of a huge lizard or a layered pie of greenish porphyrite.

• From the top of Plaki one of the best views of Partenit, Kuchuk-Lambat Bay and Ayu-Dag from the sea opens.

6. The estate and palace "Karasan"

• Raevsky estate, built in the Moorish style (fine arches, stucco, oriental motifs). It is within walking distance of Cape Plaka.

• Karasan Park: It is famous for its unique grove of Mediterranean cedars and Italian pinies. Karasan Park is considered one of the richest in variety of coniferous trees on the entire coast.
