Description:
In the heart of Sevastopol, on its main square stands a monument to Admiral Nakhimov.
Pavel Nakhimov is an outstanding Russian commander. The Battle of Sinop is his greatest victory. In 1898, the first monument to Nakhimov was opened. The sculpture did not differ from the one that stands in Sevastopol now, but the first monument was destroyed by the Bolsheviks in 1928. Then, until 1942, there was a monument to Lenin, which was later destroyed by the Nazis. The second monument to Nakhimov in Sevastopol was created by two architects and sculptor N.V. Tomsky. Their monument shows Nakhimov, who stands in a overcoat, in the right hand of the admiral a spyglass, and his left hand lies on the sea butcher.
Many urban transport routes make a stop at the monument to Nakhimov. For example, from the bus station there are buses No. 109 and No. 133.
