Description:

Panorama "Defense of Sevastopol" - a museum-panorama dedicated to the first defense of Sevastopol. On the Bastion Hill, where the fourth bastion was located during the Crimean War, stands the defense monument of Sevastopol (1854-1855).

In the middle of the 19th century, battles took place near the walls of Sevastopol, in which the outcome of the Crimean War was decided. France and England fought against Russia for the Balkan Peninsula and access to the Black Sea. For a long time the soldiers stood for Sevastopol, but the enemy troops still took the city. In March 1856, the Treaty of Paris was signed.

The author of the panorama is Franz Alekseevich Rubo. He is an outstanding professor of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts and the founder of panoramic architecture. The museum is based on the brightest moment of the battle for Sevastopol: the Battle of Malakhov Kurgan on June 6, 1855. Roubaud approached his work very responsibly. He looked at all the details of the battle. You can say survived it, so many say that the museum is so realistic that it is breathtaking.

The panorama is located at: Historic Boulevard 1. It can be reached by any public transport from any part of the city.
