Rock Kokia-Kia Cape Aya

Russia, Crimea, Sevastopol, Balaklava

Description:

Rock Kokiya-Kiya (Blue Mountain) is the highest point of the Crimean Mountains. Its height reaches 558.5 meters above sea level. The vertical southwest wall, going into the sea, forms Cape Aya.
To the east of the cape there is Laspi Bay, in the west there is a bay near the Fortress and Askethi Mountains. Picturesque mountain slopes are covered with ancient plants.
The Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Empire used the territory of the cape to shoot guns. There have been holes since then. There was also the ancient castle of Kokiya Isar, the remains of which are also well preserved. In Soviet times there was a military unit.
At the foot of the cape there is a fine pebble beach, which is called the Lost World. It can only be reached from the sea.
Most often, tourists begin their way to Cape Ayia from Balaklava. But you can get to the village of Goncharnoye and from there move on. Entry to the reserve is prohibited, so you need to get to the rock on foot or by boat.
