Museum of the History of the City and Navy of Severomorsk
About the company:
Our museum was established by the decision of the administration of Severomorsk on October 2, 1996. Its grand opening took place on October 26 of the same year to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the Russian Navy.
The first year of work was the year of formation and definition of the main directions and methods of work of the young cultural institution. At the time, the museum had only four members. The main task that was assigned to them was primarily the collection of exhibits to create a permanent exhibition. The military-historical museum of the Red Banner Northern Fleet provided invaluable assistance, transferring objects and photographs telling about the past of the naval capital to temporary storage. For some time, they formed the basis of the Battle Hall of Fame of the Northern Fleet. Many organizations and institutions of the city, as well as residents of Severomorsk, who are not indifferent to the past of their small homeland, responded to our request to donate objects of historical significance to the museum. Due to this, soon new showcases and stands appeared in the hall of the city exposition.
Two years later, exhibits of the Room of Labor Glory of Navy Builders were transferred to the museum, which served as the basis for the creation of a new exposition dedicated to the construction of the city. The staff of the museum has also increased.
Since the first days of its work, the museum has become an integral part of the cultural life of the city. For many guests of Severomorsk, acquaintance with the naval capital begins with a visit to the city museum, especially since it is located in the heart of our city. During the existence of the museum, we visited representatives of the governing structures of the country and the fleet, the public fund of Andrei the First-Called, people's artists of Russia Vladimir Gostyukhin, Vladimir Konkin and other figures of culture and art. Frequent guests of our museum are various foreign delegations, both civilian and military. Many of them have said good things in their books.
