Museum of History of the City of Sovetsk
About the company:
It was founded in April 1987 as a branch of the Kaliningrad Regional Historical-Hu-Domestic Museum. On August 22, 1992, it received its first visitors. On March 1, 1999 it became a municipality. The exposition reflects the bright moments of the centuries-old history of the city: the foundation of the Teutonic Order by the knights; the receipt of city law in 1552 from the hands of the first Duke of Prussia Albrecht of Brandenburg; the conclusion of the Tilsit Peace in 1807 by the emperors of France and Russia - Napoleon 1, Alexander 1 and King of Prussia Frederick William III; the events of the First and Second World Wars. Part of the exposition is dedicated to famous Tilsitians: romantic poet Max von Schenkendorf; writer and poet Johannes Bobrovsky; Lithuanian philosopher and public figure Wilhelmas Vidunas; playwright and writer, author of "Journey to Tilsit" - Herman Suderman. The post-war fate of the city, which received the new name Sovetsk, is reflected in the exposition "Sovetsk". Beginning of the biography”.
