Suzdal

Excursion with the Suzdal archer

Description:

The tour will begin in the center of Suzdal - on the Trading Square, where trade has been conducted for more than 800 years. We will look at the ancient ramparts and walk through the Kremlin. Many call the Kremlin the brick walls of the Savior-Euphimius Monastery, but no. The Kremlin is a city where people still live.

After a walk along the Suzdal Kremlin, we will pass through the territory of Posad, the city of Yuri Dolgoruky of the 12th century. He is considered the founder of Moscow. But few people remember that it was the Suzdal prince, who, in addition to Moscow, founded more than 10 cities. That is why he received his name (not his last name).

We will inspect the Posad churches and in one of them we will witness the unique phenomenon of “Singing frescoes”. Especially for my group, the men's choir of the Spaso-Eufimiev Monastery will perform prayers of the 17th century. In the atmosphere of the evening temple, the male voices of the choir are fascinating. I promise you will get goosebumps.

On the territory of Suzdal Posad we will see merchants' apartment houses 19, look into the Suzdal sidewalks and admire the most beautiful houses in Suzdal with carved casings.

And on the way you will meet a hereditary potter in the 5th generation.

I will open the main pages in the history of the city and tell you about the origin of the word Suzdal. In addition, we:

  • Let’s go to a 19th century merchant’s house and discuss its construction.
  • Discover the secrets of Russian proverbs and proverbs – for example, quite decent expressions “fly does not knit” and “go left”;
  • Let’s talk about Russian clothes and charm symbols;
  • Let’s look at the essence of Russian fairy tales – why Baba Yaga put children on a shovel and why Ivan the fool did not want to marry the queen in “Humpback Horse”;
  • Let us understand why houses and churches were built without nails.
