Suzdal

A trip to Sanino

Description:

Sanino - once a large (in 1896 - 78 yards) village on the river Uecke, almost disappeared now. There are a dozen houses that are actually residential – less than half.

People come here to the newly restored St. Nicholas Monastery in 2001. Abbot Mother Irina and about 20 nuns and novices are ascetics in it. The newly built “road that leads to the temple” near it ends. Both temples of the twentieth century survived intact, preserving iconostases, utensils, vestments of priests - perhaps this is why icons myrrhage here, frescoes on the walls are self-cleaned, and ten years ago, a summer girl scored a healing spring on which a chapel was put. St. Nicholas Church is still unlocked by the same huge ancient wrought-iron keys, which in the God-fighting years of the church headwoman, nun Angelina, having locked the temple, buried in the forest, without telling anyone where and only, returning after 17 years of Stalinist camps, brought back and reopened the temple. The tombstone on the tomb of Angelina with two keys carved on it can be seen at the altar of the temple. You can hear unusual stories associated with the icons of the God of Father Sabaoth, “Satisfy my sorrows”, “Unexpected Joy” or with the appearance on the wall of the shadow of the Virgin and the baby. Bring water from a sanctified spring. It is enough just to drive two dozen kilometers from the city of Suzdal.
