Suzdal, Kideksha: sightseeing tour.

Suzdal, a city where time seems to have stopped. It is difficult to find a person who has not heard of Suzdal. It easily competes with such tourist titans as Moscow and St. Petersburg, hosting tourist guests (Colonels before the 18th century) for several centuries. I invite you to get acquainted with the city and its surroundings, to find out why the city is visited by up to 1.5 million visitors a year and why it is so famous.

Suzdal, along with its historical appearance and man-made architectural monuments of the 11th and 13th centuries, preserved in its vicinity the memory of a prisoner in white stone. Only 4 kilometers from the city is the village of Kideksha. This is a very ancient village, which in the 12th century became the residence of Yuri Dolgoruky. There is preserved the earliest white stone temple, a monument of pre-Mongol architecture - the temple of Boris and Gleb in 1152. Why did the prince have to leave his capital? Why did Yuri Dolgoruky build this temple in Kideksha and not in Suzdal? What construction technology did Yuri use, and where did the material for the buildings come from?
