Borisogleb Church
Description:
The Church of the Holy Princes Boris and Gleb on the Boris side, is located on the right bank of the Kamenka River, in Suzdal.
According to the surviving documents, it can be concluded that at the end of the XVI century on the site of the temple was a monastery, which was destroyed and burned during the Polish intervention in Smut.
The date of construction of the Borisoglebskaya church is very difficult to determine, it is believed that it was built in 1749, but according to architectural techniques and design of facades with Baroque elements, it can be attributed to the end of the XVII century, and the bell towers themselves could be built in the middle of the XVIII century.
The church is built of red brick, and built in Moscow Baroque, not typical of Suzdal. Inside the temple are paintings of the 18th and 19th centuries.
In 1923, the church was closed and planned to be demolished and used as building material for other sites, but these plans were not destined to become a reality. And already in 1961 it was restored.
In 2017, work began on the overhaul of the temple, and at the moment the restoration continues.
