Wooden Nikolskaya Church

Russia, Suzdal.

Description:

The buildings of the architectural ensemble of the Suzdal Kremlin are mostly made of stone, but among them there is a very beautiful church, which is built entirely of wood without the use of nails.

St. Nicholas Church was built in 1766 in the village of Glotovo, Vladimir region. After almost 200 years, the church was moved to Suzdal in order to preserve it as an architectural monument, where it became the first exhibit of the Museum of Wooden Architecture.

According to its architectural structure, the temple is an example of “Clet” temples. At the heart of the structure is a chopped cage, similar to the structure of the Russian hut.

Currently, the temple has been restored and is located in the western part of the Suzdal Kremlin. The place for the temple was not chosen by chance. It stands away from the stone buildings of the architectural ensemble on the banks of the Kamenka River surrounded by a village landscape.

St. Nicholas Church is deservedly one of the main exhibits of the Suzdal Museum. Every year it is of great interest to tourists and art historians.

You can see this work of art with your own eyes at: Vladimir region, Suzdal, st. Kremlin, 29. GPS coordinates: 56.416386, 40.441317.
