Suzdal

Nikolsky

Vladimir region of Suzdal, Pokrovskaya str. 37.

Description:

St. Nicholas Church was built in 1720 - 1739. This building was restored in stone on the site of a wooden temple, which burned down in the great fire of 1719.

St. Nicholas Church or St. Nicholas Church is located on the exit from the city, in the southeastern part of the Kremlin, near the Nikolsky Gate. Most likely, this location is not accidental, because St. Nicholas since ancient times was considered the patron saint of those who leave their native lands and go on a journey.

This building is beautifully decorated and truly is one of the main pearls among the Suzdal churches. Unfortunately, the last restoration of the church was carried out in 1960. At the moment it is in a rather neglected state.

Since 2007, the church has a workshop on icon painting, fresco painting and encaustics.

You can get to the church by bus No. 2, 3 (stop "Trading Square") and then walk along the street. Kremlin and Lebedev Street.
