Monument to Alexei Lebedev
the intersection of Kremlin Street and Lebedev Street, Suzdal, Russia
Description:
A bronze monument to Alexei Lebedev, a naval officer and poet, was erected in Suzdal in 2008. The monument depicts a strong Russian sailor in a veal with a small book in his hands. His eyes are both stern and sublime.
With the installation of the monument, the Suzdal people paid tribute to the memory of their famous countryman who served in the navy, chanted in poems the sea and heroically died with his colleagues while performing a combat mission.
The life of Alexei Lebedev was cut short by the Great Patriotic War, during which he served as navigator of the L-2 submarine in the Baltic Fleet. Before the war in 1939 and 1940, Alexei Alekseevich published two books with poems Kronstadt and Lyrics of the Sea.
In honor of the poet, a street in Suzdal is also named, at the intersection of which a monument is installed with Kremlin Street. You can get to the sights from the Suzdal bus station on foot (3 km) or take buses No. 2 and No. 3 to the city administration, and then walk 870 m.
