Description:

The monastery in Suzdal is one of the ancient buildings erected since the times of Ancient Russia. Located on the highest part of the city of Suzdal, on Lenin Street, 77. Tourists can visit this monastery any day of the week. It is very easy to reach as it is almost in the center of the city.

The monastery in honor of the position of the robe of the Most Holy Mother of God was founded in the 13th century by John of Suzdal. Soon the building was under the leadership of the Monk Princess Eurosyne. She managed to elevate the importance of the monastery, that it became the best female abode in Russia.

Initially, the monastery was wooden, so it has not survived to this day. In the 16th century, a three-headed Rice Cathedral was erected, which functions to this day. Also with it you can see: two tent Holy Gate (1688), 72-meter St. bell tower (1813-1819) and Refectory Sretensky Church (1882).

Like other Orthodox buildings, the Rizopolozhensky monastery in Soviet times was closed for service. There was a power station inside the building. It was only in 1999 that the monastery came under the leadership of the Russian Orthodox Church. Therefore, the following year the convent was open to everyone.
