Smolensk Church of Suzdal
Description:
When you are in Suzdal, be sure to come to the Church of the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God. It is located across the street from the Savior-Eufimius Monastery, on the site of the former monastery settlement. By 1706 it was completely rebuilt, replacing all wooden masonry with stone.
A hundred years later, a bell tower was added to the five-domed church, fully completing the architectural complex of the churches of Simeon Stylpnik and the Smolensk Icon of the Mother of God.
Note that the cladding of the north side of the church looks more presentable than the south. This is due to the fact that earlier merchants passed along the road from Yaroslavl, who came to the church with requests for a favorable completion of the path and obtaining more profit.
