Dimitri's church on blood
Description:
This is the name of the church, because in its place the last descendant of the Rurik dynasty, Dimitri Uglichsky, was killed. At first, a chapel was erected on the site of the temple, and then a wooden temple of Tsarevich Dimitri and the winter church of Michael the Archangel.
The church itself was built in 1692 in the Moscow style of stone. Its walls were painted in red, and against the background of the walls were placed elements of white decor. In 1778, the church was painted with biblical stories. After the restoration of the western part of the temple, a door made of board iron of the 17th century and a floor made of cast iron slabs of the 18th century were preserved. In the southern part, almost everything remains in its original form.
In the west of the temple exhibits are exhibited, which are associated with the death of Dimitri Uglichsky: mica lantern, wore and cancer, which carried the relics of Demetrius to Moscow. The main exhibit of the church is the Uglich exile bell.
To get to the city of Uglich, you first need to fly to the nearest Tunoshna airport near Yaroslavl. You can take a taxi and go to the temple directly from the airport, or get to Yaroslavl, and from there go by bus or your car. To the city of Uglich go about an hour and a half.
