Baranovo Manor

Kyiv highway, Leninsky district, Moscow region, Russian Federation

Description:

Not far from Vnukovo airport, not reaching it about a kilometer and a half, if you go from Moscow to the region, there is a Baranovo estate. It was founded, presumably, in the second half of the XVIII century, and in the XIX century was the property of representatives of one of the branches of the Tolstoy dynasty. From the estate complex, a house surrounded by an apple orchard has been preserved. It leads to an alley of age-old lime trees.

Wooden two-storey house with mezzanine stylistically resembles a building in the Art Nouveau style. This sensation is formed when you see a figure roof with round auditory windows located on the sides, as well as an oval auditory window on the central facade. The main decorative element of the facade on the side of the park is a large window with small glazing. The front facade is decorated with three elegant arched windows. The construction of the mansion belongs to the turn of the XIX-XX centuries. Near the mansion there are two small buildings of economic purpose.

After the revolution of 1917, the Baranovo estate was nationalized and transferred to the needs of an orphanage. Currently, the MSU biostation is based here, on which student field practices are held annually.
