This is Stalingrad, guys. They wanted to swim in the Volga
Description:
The German soldiers, having marched quietly all over Europe, could not understand how the Soviet soldier was able to fight so steadfastly and boldly against an iron armada packed with armored vehicles, aircraft, artillery, machine guns, suppressing any resistance. After all, before entering this distant unknown land, any enemy doomed to defeat always gave up, almost never thought of self-sacrifice and battle until the last cartridge.
The fascists were surprised that Russian soldiers sometimes fought in exceptional circumstances, when, according to human concepts, this is impossible. Severely wounded men shoot at the Germans from a mountain of corpses, hours after the battle ended. They did not believe their eyes when Soviet soldiers, burning alive in the houses blazing from flame-throwing queues, continued to shoot at the enemy from the windows.
And yet they were sure that Stalingrad would be taken quickly. Even when they stayed on the approaches instead of two weeks for two months. And when they entered the city, they thought that now everything, the city in their hands and nothing could take away Stalingrad and victory from them.
And in February the master of the world meets in Stalingrad! O Volga, Volga, how they admired you, how numb they were at seeing your beauty, how they wanted to touch this great Russian river! But don't wash your bodies with it! The Volga froze, but that's not the point. The moon pours poisonous yellow snow. Hundreds and thousands of Germans! Whole legions! Some are torn to shreds by shells, others are rolled like pancakes, crushed by cars and tanks, others, similar to the wax figures of the panopticum, are beveled by a merciful bullet. Meteta. Snow fills the dead, next to others, bare by the wind. They dreamed of their estate in the fertile Volga lands, glory, gold, the scepter of the world. Feldfebel stirred up the yellow fangs of an old sick rat. Miraculously, the surviving glasses tremble on the corporal's nose, and the corporal has no body: a tank passed. The Germans are trampled, stuffed, chopped, stuffed, stuffed. They dreamed of "colossal," a favorite German word. Stalingrad is a colossal German necropolis. For a year and a half, the country silently listened to stories about the horrors and abuses of the rulers of the world over the Russian people, our country waited for this spectacle for a year and a half. On every metre of Russian land, the Nazis carried death. But death rose on them, like an ancient storm. Death took them, and they froze in the last convulsion, ingenious and pathetic among a foreign land.
